The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection is aware that there is a delay with a number of Fuel Allowance lump sum payments.
The majority of customers who have opted for a lump sum will receive their payment as expected this week.
A total of 340,000 customers in receipt of Fuel Allowance, 57,000 opted last year to receive their Fuel Allowance payments in two lump sums.
A total of 3,000 lump sum customers have been affected by the delay to the second lump sum payment.
The Department will ensure that payments issue to these 3,000 affected customers early next week.
The department sincerely apologises to the customers affected and want to assure them that the issue is being resolved. The delay is caused by a technical issue and upgrading work is currently underway to address this.
Any customer who is experiencing financial hardship due to this delay can contact the Department’s Community Welfare Service at their local Department Office or Intreo Centre.
